Is it time for your upgrade?

How do you know?

Have you lost your peace? Are you afraid? Are you sick? Do you need direction? Etc etc….

I think a lot of times when we look at trials and tribulations we lose our hope. We focus on the problem. We get discouraged. We forget who our Lord is. We forget what He’s promised, and so we sink into the mire.

I want to propose a change of mindset and perspective.

Whenever you’re faced with a trial say, “It looks like it’s time for an upgrade.”

If you’ve ever played a video game, you come up against enemies you can’t beat with your current level. You don’t have the right strength, skills, or tools. So then you get defeated.

From what I’ve seen, if you can’t beat that enemy, you go level up. You get upgrades. You get companions to help you battle the enemy. You grow.

When you’re playing a video game, you don’t look at the enemy and say, “he’s too big. I can’t beat this one.” So you walk away. You give up.

That doesn’t happen.

Instead you say, “What needs to happen so I can win? What do I need to do to take this enemy out?”

Did you know there’s Biblical precedent for this?

When Moses sent out the 12 spies, 10 returned, gave a bad report about giants, and then they had to spend 40 years roaming around in the desert. However, 2 came back and gave a good report. They understood who their Lord was. They understood what they had been promised. They could see what needed to be done.

Ask yourself, what do I need to do to be like the two who inherited the promise?

Check this out in Romans 5.

Romans 5:1-5 NASB — Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

You’ve received everything you need in Christ according to Ephesians 1. But here in Romans it’s like it’s an introduction. It’s an introduction “by faith into this grace which we stand.” See you’ve obtained this introduction through Jesus, but now it’s time to walk it out by faith. Then you’ve got to stand in His grace. His grace is the power of God to overcome.

Furthermore, “tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint.” If you’re in a trial, it’s time to stand in the grace and promises of God. It’s time to walk by faith and persevere. Then in your perseverance, you’ll see that your character is proven. You’ll see the promises God shown true. Not because of your greatness, but because of what God has already done for you. You maintain the hope, and your hope in Him does not disappoint.

It’s time to put the promises of God into action.

The difference between the video game and walking with Jesus is that in the video game you’ve got to go earn your upgrades. In Christ, you’ve already received them. The issue might just be that you don’t know you’ve been given them or you don’t know how to exercise them.

So when you’re getting an upgrade, you’re getting an upgrade in understanding. You’re getting an upgrade in walking out all the Lord has given you.

Are you lost? Get an upgrade in following Jesus.
Are you sick? Get an upgrade in being whole.
Is someone sick around you? Get an upgrade in healing.
Can you not hear the Lord? Get an upgrade in listening?
Are you facing difficulty? Get an upgrade in overcoming.
Are you afraid of coronavirus? Get an upgrade in the resurrection life of Christ.
Are you upset about race, injustice, and disunity? Get an upgrade in the new creation life.
Are you stuck in a storm? Get an upgrade in calming the storm.

Wherever you have needs, trials, or enemies, get an upgrade. You’ve already been given everything in Christ Jesus. So it’s time to learn how to exercise what He’s already paid for.

From now on change your life and perspective.

“It looks like it’s time to get an upgrade.”

Be blessed all.
